HICMR is a national Infection Prevention and Control Consultancy Service based in Melbourne. It is the largest provider of Infection Prevention and Control Services in Australia and has been in operation for over 25 years. The principal partners, Anne Lyon and Helen Musgrove, are Registered Nurses with more than 60 years combined experience in the area of Infection Prevention and Control.

HICMR is a nationally recognised leader in the delivery of Infection Prevention and Control risk management services, to assist in the active management of Infection Prevention and Control Risks at both strategic and operational levels. Our Infection Prevention and Control management approach is part of an overall quality improvement strategy. It is designed to assist healthcare clinicians and managers to comply with current Infection Prevention and Control standards and regulations, to ensure optimal quality and safety of patient care. We work in collaboration with healthcare organisations to develop a range of programs and systems that are designed to assist them to identify, analyse, control and reduce their Infection Prevention and Control risks.

HICMR provides Infection Prevention and Control Management Services to both national and international clients. The company has been involved in the successful implementation and maintenance of many Infection Prevention and Control Programs in the public and private healthcare sectors, as well as Office Based and Diagnostic Imaging practices, and other allied healthcare facilities. Currently, HICMR consult to over 220 healthcare facilities in Australia, comprising over 17,000 beds. HICMR employ a team of appropriately qualified and experienced Infection Prevention and Control Consultants (ICCs), some of whom are state based, to ensure both national and local knowledge are available and utilised.

The HICMR Infection Prevention and Control Program is a Risk Management model based on AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009: Risk management – Principles and Guidelines HICMR also support the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare (ACSQHC) focus on minimisation of Healthcare Associated Infections, including the national Hand Hygiene Australia (HHA) Project coordinated by the National Hand Hygiene Advisory Committee as part of the National Hand Hygiene Initiative (NHHI). HICMR can provide assistance to clients to meet the requirements of same as required.
